JP Lalonde

CSIA Level IV, CSIA IV Course Conductor, ACA Development Level

JP’s interest in skiing started at around 2 years old, at the end of his driveway. Growing up, he enjoyed both playing hockey and skiing, but by age 15, after helping his cousin learn to ski during a family ski trip, he discovered that he had a passion for teaching skiing.

At 16, he hung up his hockey skates to become a ski instructor; he took his CSIA Level 1. At that time, you had to be 18 to go on to the next level, so he had to wait two long years before passing his Level 2. The next season, he successfully completed Level 3 and, at 20, completed the ACA coaching Level 1 and Level 2. By the time he was 21, he began conducting ski instructor courses for the Level 1 and hasn’t stopped since, achieving his Level 4 in 2004 and working his way up to Level 4 course conductor by 2009. This winter will already be JP’s 32nd season as a course conductor!

He was previously a ski school director and involved in different committees with the CSIA. He’s been overseas seven times to provide Canadian certification to instructors from around the world and did two trips to Chile to work on instructor training. He’s very passionate about skiing and instructing, loves to see his clients improve and reach their goals. You will often see him climbing back up the hill to show something to his students again. Known for drawing on the snow, JP’s teaching goes beyond just words, but also uses images.

His whole family shares his passion for skiing and teaching; his wife Magalie successfully completed her Level 4, and his 18-year-old son Antoine has already completed the skiing portion of his Level 3.

“See you soon on the slopes. I can’t wait to make you a better skier!”
